We'd love to hear from you, whether you've found a mistake, have a question about your subscription or just want to say hello.

We aim to reply within five working days.

When you're reporting a problem, it helps if you tell us:

your phone model
its iOS or Android version
the app version (shown in the You tab, under About)
what happened

A screenshot is useful too.

Subscriptions and billing

Apple and Google handle all payments, so some things are quickest done directly with them.

Cancel or change your subscription. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. On Android, open Google Play, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Deleting the app doesn't cancel your subscription.
Ask for a refund. Apple and Google take the payment, so refunds go through them. For Apple, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google, request a refund through Google Play. If you have trouble, email us and we'll help.
Premium isn't showing. Make sure you're signed in to the account you subscribed with, then tap Restore Purchases on the Premium screen. If that doesn't work, email us.

Report an error in a fact

Getting history right matters to us. Please tell us:

the title of the fact, essay or quote
what you think is wrong
if you can, a source we can check

We review every report and correct mistakes.

Photographs, quotations and copyright

Our photographs are used under public-domain or Creative Commons licences. Each one is credited in the app under "About this photo". If you own the rights to something in the app and think it's being used wrongly, email us. Tell us which item it is and why, and we'll look into it promptly.

Privacy requests and complaints

You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, or raise a concern about how we've handled it. Email us with "Privacy request" or "Privacy complaint" in the subject line, from the address on your account if possible.

We'll reply to a request within one month. If you make a complaint, we'll acknowledge it within 30 days and tell you the outcome without undue delay. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) at any time. Our Privacy Policy has the details.

Delete your account

In the app: open the You tab, scroll to Account and tap Delete account.

By email: write to hello@blackhistoryfactsapp.com from the email address on your account, with "Delete my account" in the subject line. We'll delete it within one month and confirm when it's done.

What we delete:

your account and display name
your sign-in details
your leaderboard scores
the Versus challenges you created
your subscription record with our subscription provider

In challenges you joined, your name is removed.

What we keep: Apple and Google keep their own records of any purchases, under their own policies. Saved facts, notes and settings are stored only on your phone. Delete the app to remove them.

Your subscription: deleting your account doesn't cancel it. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings first.
